Shoppers in the UK spent a total of £6.8 billion online during December, according to the latest figures from the IMRG Capgemini e-Retail Sales Index.
Sales were up by 25% on December 2009, with the average person spending £111 online in the run up to the festive season.
Clothing and alcohol retailers saw the strongest growth, with sales up 40% and 36% respectively.
